Nobody from COINiD will ever ask for your recovery phrase. This site never asks you to enter it. Only ever type your 12 words into trusted wallet software installed on your own device — never into a website, form, or chat.

Step 1: Get your recovery phrase

Every guide starts the same way. If you already have your 12 words written down, skip ahead.

  1. Open COINiD Vault — the app that holds your keys. For a hot wallet that's on the same phone as COINiD Wallet; for a cold wallet it's on your offline device.
  2. Go to Settings → Backup and authenticate with your PIN.
  3. Write down the 12 words, in order, on paper. Don't photograph them or store them digitally.

Hot and cold wallets use separate recovery phrases — each COINiD Vault has its own. If you used both, migrate both.

Step 2: Know your derivation path

When restoring, some wallets ask which "derivation path" or address type your wallet used. If COINiD Wallet still opens, you can see yours under Settings → Account Information. Otherwise, read it from your address format:

Step 3: Restore in your new wallet

Follow the guide for the wallet you picked — each one shows exactly where to enter your 12 words and which options to choose. Your funds never left the blockchain, but be patient after importing: the new wallet rescans the blockchain for your addresses, so it can take several minutes before your balance and full history appear.

Afterwards, consider a fresh start. Once your funds show up in the new wallet, it's good practice to create a brand-new wallet (new seed) there and send the funds over. Your COINiD phrase has spent years stored on a phone — retiring it costs one transaction fee.
