COINiD → AirGap

AirGap uses the same idea as COINiD's cold wallet: AirGap Vault holds your keys on an offline phone, and AirGap Wallet runs on your online phone. The two communicate with QR codes.

Only install AirGap from airgap.it or the official store listings linked there. Never enter your recovery phrase anywhere else.

How to migrate

AirGap Vault can import a 12-word BIP39 phrase, but it manages its own account types and may not derive COINiD's default path (m/49'/0'/0') — your funds could appear missing. The reliable route is a two-step move:

  1. Restore your COINiD phrase in BlueWallet, Sparrow or Electrum so you can access the funds. Follow that wallet's guide, and give it several minutes to sync your balance and history after import.
  2. Install AirGap Vault on your offline device (ideally a factory-reset phone kept permanently offline) and generate a new secret. Back it up on paper.
  3. Create a Bitcoin account in Vault, and install AirGap Wallet on your online phone.
  4. Pair the two apps by scanning the QR code — only the public key crosses over, just like COINiD's setup.
  5. In AirGap Wallet, copy a receive address, and send your funds to it from the wallet you restored in step 1.
  6. Wait for confirmation in AirGap Wallet. Done — your cold storage runs on a fresh seed that has never touched an online device.

Keep the offline phone offline: no SIM, no Wi-Fi, airplane mode forever. It should only ever talk to the outside world through QR codes.
