Spring News from COINiD!
Linköping April 4th 2019 - COINiD has some spring news for you! Lately, we have been working on refreshing the COINiD wallet with new features, improved design and performance enhancements. Here are some of the updates that are now added to your wallet:
First, our users now have the option to sweep private keys. This function is especially useful when you want to import funds from a paper wallet into your mobile wallet, especially if that wallet’s private keys have been exposed in some way e.g. if it was given to you as a gift. When sweeping, you make a new transaction to a new public address of your software wallet and hence, the funds will be protected by a new private key stored on your device. After the sweep is done, the paper wallet will have no coins left as they now belong to the private keys in the software, and therefore, nobody else will have access to these funds. Importing keys can be good when you are sure that they are only known to you and have not been exposed to anybody else. If unsure, we recommend that you use sweeping. The sweep function supports compressed and uncompressed WIF and BIP38 and will also derive SegWit and bech32 along with legacy address if the key is compressed.
Furthermore, you can now share a QR code or address through different applications on your mobile device. This means that you can send a request through a text message to any of your contacts, through an e-mail, or any other messenger app that you prefer. Hence, the person that you send a request to does not need to open their COINiD app to see the request, but can get it as a direct message. An extra push when needed.
You can now also find more supported currencies in the application. With cryptocurrency being the most global currency there is, we thought it was more than right to offer more currencies to which you can convert your coins. For example, if a request is sent from Japan in yens, you can just choose yens and the requested amount in the sending process instead of having to find out the corresponding amount in BTC’s yourself. Definitely easier and more time saving. Of course there are current price graphs displayed for all the currencies.
It is now also easier to empty an account as you can copy your total amount directly in the ‘add transaction’ process. Right under where you fill out the amount that you wish to send, you can as before see your total amount on your account and this is what you now can copy and add as the amount that you’d like to send. Helpful for all of those who do not conveniently have a perfectly even, easy-to-remember, amount of coins in their wallet.
Apart from the specified features above, these are some additional changes and improvements that you can find in your wallet:
- A new dialog router which heavily improves the performance and developer QOL.
- React Native 0.59.
- Platform-specific Action Sheets and new action sheet router.
- Improvements to transitions.
- Press the QR code to copy the address.
- Almost a full rewrite of settings.
- New about screen with lots of information about the running build and blockchain status.
- More links to our community channels for some good banter.
...and a lot of other stuff!
Some of these improvements were based on requests from our users, so if you have any feedback or questions regarding the wallet, feel free to contact us! For now we hope that you’ll enjoy the current added features and improvements!
